The telecommunications tower rises 64 metres on a hill 135 m above sea level located at about 4 Km from Stavanger downtown. Known how Ullandhaug tower, it was built in 1964 and except the top levels is owned by Telenor the telephone and communications company, you can visit other floor to get a wonderful view of Stavanger, Ryfylke and Nordjæren. On Sundays there is a cafe open inside selling coffee and waffles. Before the tower was built the little hill was topped with “Harald’s Cairn”. Shaped in the traditional boat shape viking burial site, the rocks were moved and now stand beside Ullandhaug tower (Ullandhaugtårn).

You can reach Ullandhaug by car following the central motorway till the parking below the hill or by Local bus 4B from Stavanger Sentrum. Of course, you can make a short hikig, in this case we suggest to get the region map from Stavanger Turistforening.

See you there or if you are curious and cannot go there now, you can buy the nice video on the Stavanger region at our shop.
