The Preikestolen or Pulpit rock is a flat balcony rising about 604 m above the Lysefjord in the Stavanger region. It has not been created by man but product of thousand years of natural erosion. Usually, the trek takes two and half hours the way up but if you are not fit it can take longer how happened to me. Pay attention to the first 600 metres which are very steep and is here were usually lost a lot of energy. Then the path degrade slowly but also the first part is disseminated of bulky rocks. Well, the view from above is priceless, so it worth spending one day up and down. If you are not fit can just join in a cruise along the Lysefjord and watch the huge balcony from below. We made a nice video on the Stavanger region including this Preikestolen experience. You can download it from our shop.
